Building Our Wicosuta Community All Year Round
As it is starting to get colder and the leaves are changing, we’re reminded that the magic of camp doesn’t end when summer does. At Camp Wicosuta, our community is the heart of everything we do, and that spirit carries on, even during the off-season. While our days are no longer filled with Perfect Camp Days (PCDs), cheering for Color War/WCC , and singing Moose Alpaca in the dining hall, the connections we built remain strong, reminding us of the importance of nurturing our Wico family all year long.
The friendships that form at camp don’t need to hibernate during fall. Camp friends are special because they know us in ways others might not—they’ve seen us at our silliest, our bravest, and sometimes even our messiest. These bonds, formed over shared experiences like card games, late-night cabin chats, and teamwork on the field or in the pool, have a lasting power. Whether through a quick text, a group video chat, or meeting up with fellow campers, staying connected is vital. These relationships, built on shared memories and growth, help us continue the support and encouragement we experienced together at camp.
In the off-season, we encourage everyone to think about ways to bring the camp spirit into your daily lives. This can mean creating your own “PCD” by planning something fun with friends or family, taking initiative at school by including someone new, or even organizing your own mini “Color War” through team games. You can keep the sense of camp alive by practicing gratitude, writing letters to friends, or even making friendship bracelets to share with those around you. Just as we did during camp, it’s important to practice kindness, be inclusive, and make time for others. Whether it’s helping a classmate, being a good listener, or lending a hand to someone in need, these small acts of kindness help keep the Wico community strong, even when we’re apart.
As we enjoy the fall and all the fun that comes with it, we also have something to look forward to! Our winter reunions will be back this January in the New York (January 11th) and Boston (January 12th) areas! SAVE THE DATE!! These gatherings are a great opportunity to reconnect, share memories, and get a little taste of that camp magic (and even some one of a kind camp goodies) during the off-season. We can’t wait to see our camp friends, catch up on life, and relive some of our favorite Wico moments together!
As the seasons change, remember that the warmth of our Wicosuta community is never far away. Let’s continue to build each other up, cheer each other on, and carry the best parts of camp with us throughout the year.
Happy Fall and Happy Halloween from your Wico family!
